HIPAA Information

HIPAA stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. This Act was introduced to ensure continuity of health coverage in the event of changes in insurance carriers so that coverage would not be denied because of pre-existing medical conditions. Since its introduction, the scope of the Act has been enlarged to address the privacy and the security of medical information.
